- Toast is one of the most complete systems for larger US restaurants, with its own hardware, its own payment processing, and contracts that usually run two or three years.
- Oden Food makes sense if you are in Mexico or Latin America (Toast does not operate there), if you do not want to sign a multi-year term, and if you would rather run the system on the iPad or phones you already own.

Frequently asked questions
Does Toast work in Mexico?
No. Toast operates in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. A Mexican restaurant cannot sign up, and even if it could, Toast does not issue CFDI 4.0.
Is Toast's free plan really free?
The Starter Kit software has no monthly fee, but it is paid for in processing: 3.09% plus 15 cents on every in-person charge, against 2.49% plus 15 cents on the $69/month plan. At real volume, those six tenths of a point cost far more than the subscription you skipped.
Do I have to sign a contract with Toast?
Generally yes. Agreements usually run two years and some promotions ask for three, with a penalty for leaving early. Oden Food has no contract and no minimum term: cancel any month you want.
Do I need to buy hardware to use Oden?
No. Oden runs on the iPad, iPhone or Android you already own, and works with common Star and Epson thermal printers. If you later want a dedicated printer or tablet, buy it wherever you like: we do not sell hardware and we do not lock you to any.
What does Toast have that Oden does not?
Toast is a large US suite: payroll, hiring, capital advances, its own kitchen hardware and a huge integration network in the American market. If you operate there and need all of that from one vendor, Toast is a serious answer. Outside those countries it is not an option at all.
