What is the main difference between Oden Food and SoftRestaurant?
SoftRestaurant (NSF, Pixel Group) is the traditional restaurant system in Mexico: it runs on Windows PCs, requires specific hardware (POS terminals, matrix or thermal printers, local server), and implementation usually involves a distributor that charges setup, license, and maintenance. Oden Food is the modern option: install the app on any iPad or Android phone, configure your menu in one afternoon, and pay $599 a month with no contracts. Today SoftRestaurant is two products: the 12, which runs on a Windows PC and is bought as a license through a reseller, and Cloud, a monthly subscription that runs on Android and in the browser. Against Cloud the difference is no longer the cloud: it is the caps (2, 5 or 10 devices depending on the plan, and multi-location only on the 1,599 one) and their own hardware for card payments.
How much does it cost to switch from SoftRestaurant to Oden Food?
If you already have iPads or Android tablets, zero. If you need new tablets, they are about $4,000-$8,000 MXN each (one-time purchase). There is no upfront license fee: you pay $599 a month from day one. We handle menu migration with you in 1 to 3 days.
Does Oden Food support CFDI 4.0 invoicing like SoftRestaurant?
Yes. Oden Food supports native CFDI 4.0 invoicing - it issues the invoice with your RFC and tax regime directly from the system, and also generates a QR code on every receipt so customers can self-invoice from their phone (without giving their RFC at checkout).
Does it work without internet, like my local SoftRestaurant?
Not today. SoftRestaurant 12 saves to a local server and keeps working without internet; Cloud does not (asked about using it without wifi, they answer that it works over 4G, which is not the same as working with no signal). In Oden the offline mode is on the way and for now runs as a pilot with a few restaurants. If your connection drops often and you rely on the 12 today, weigh that before switching.
Is SoftRestaurant better because it is more established in Mexico?
Being established has advantages (more local distributors, more accountants familiar with it), but it also means it is built on older technology: Windows dependency, specialized POS terminals, and in many cases matrix printers. If you are opening a restaurant today, a system designed for tablets and phones usually makes more sense and has a lower 3-year total cost.
Will my kitchen still receive tickets if I switch to Oden?
Yes, in two ways: 1) Classic thermal printing by station (grill, cold prep, desserts) using existing Star or Epson printers. 2) KDS (kitchen display screen) - orders arrive on a screen, the cook marks them ready, and the server is notified. You can use both modes together.
Can I migrate my SoftRestaurant historical data to Oden?
Product catalog, modifiers, tables, and employees can be migrated. Historical sales data stays in SoftRestaurant - but you do not need it for day-to-day operations, and you can still consult it there for audits. For sales analysis, Oden starts generating reports from day one.
